JJ Watt tennis shoes - Tennis Review

JJ Watt tennis shoes

J.J. Watt is a freak show. (USATSI)

Reminder: Watt is seven pounds shy of 300. And can jump on top of a 5-foot box from a standing-still position.

The funny part about all this? Watt is joining up with Reebok's "Be More Human" campaign, designed to target the everyday human through shoe marketing.

"Kids treat athletes like superheroes and make you a role model, " Watt told Darren Rovell of ESPN.com. "It's extremely important to me to remind kids that I was in their shoes and I was just like them and I accomplished what I did because I worked hard to pursue to my dreams."

The biggest problem being, of course, that he's as far from "human" as just about anybody in the NFL. Justin James Watt is a blend of John Wayne, Incredible Hulk and Chuck "Concrete Charlie" Bednarik.

He certainly helps Reebok with this deal, however.

"J.J. gives us instant credibility, " said Reebok US vice president Chris Waldeck told Rovell.

There won't be any recognition on the field, though. Reebok isn't allowed to put its logo on NFL cleats. Watt sounded like he was more interested in focusing in on the stuff he wears for training purposes.

"My body is everything, " Watt said. "The equipment I use is everything."

"I don't flip tires just to be a tire flipper and I don't do a box jump just to say I can jump on boxes. I do it because it makes me a better player and a better athlete."
