Novak Djokovic downed Andy Murray 6-2, 6-3 in their semi-final showdown at the BNP Paribas Open.
A re-match of the Australian Open final, which the Serb won in four sets, Djokovic now owns a six-match winning streak against his rival, improving to 17-8 in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series. The three-time champion in Indian Wells, he returns to the final after hoisting the trophy last year. It will be Djokovic's 31st ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title match.
"Even though it's a straight-set victory, I still had to earn it, " said Djokovic. "I thought that he didn't play close to his highest level. He made a lot of unforced errors, especially from the forehand side. Low percentage of first serves in. That allowed me to obviously step in and be aggressive.
"I thought I played solid, with the right intensity from the beginning. Good first serve percentage. Got some free points there in the important moments."

The early 11:00am start did not phase Djokovic, as the World No. 1 surged out of the gates on a hot semi-final Saturday in the California desert.
The defending champion found his rhythm from the baseline immediately and used his agility to frustrate Murray, breaking the Scot and consolidating for a 3-0 lead. Murray struck just two first serves in six points in his opening service game and Djokovic pounced.
As the set progressed, Djokovic continued to find his range off the ground. Murray would turn in an error-strewn service game trailing 1-4 and the top seed capitalised for a second break.
Djokovic would emphatically seal the opener with a break to love two games later. In total, Djokovic fired four winners but benefited from 16 unforced errors and 22 per cent first serve points won by Murray.
The laser show off Djokovic's racquet continued in the second set, pummeling forehand after forehand and drawing more errors from Murray. Shades of the opener, the Belgrade native broke in the second game and consolidated for 3-0.
Murray pressed for a break back in the fifth game, but a pair of Djokovic service winners denied both chances. The Serb's first match point came on Murray's racquet at 5-2, which the Scot turned aside with an ace down the T. Djokovic would serve out the win on his fourth match point in the next game, prevailing after one hour and 28 minutes. He will face either Roger Federer or Milos Raonic in Sunday's final.
