High School Tennis Coaching

Women s Tennis

If you are coaching high school tennis, your main objective is to build a solid team.

Do this by getting every player to buy into your message(whatever that may be).

But, focus on team values, based on hard work, supporting other team members and building character.

Set team goals for the year and make sure that you reach those goals.

One way to do this is to have team brainstorming sessions”Get everyone involved and you will be able to build a even stronger team and this will push every member on the team to give and do more to help in reaching the team’s goal”.

I give high school clinics around Kansai, so I get a chance to see many teams and only a few of them get this message, which is, ”Every team must have goals to build team character”.

But mostly what I see is, “Players holding their own teams back, one player can be a like a cancer on a team.”

Push all of your players to be the best, but don’t tolerate anything that will prevent the team from reaching their goals.

Coaches should make sure that every player that goes through their program, leaves a better person and player, also never give up on a players, many of these kids have problems at home and we need to help them out as much as we can.

I love coaching high school kids, because it’s so rewarding when you can see a kid grow as a person and as a player and you know you played a part in that growth.”
