2012 Tennis Rankings Guidelines
Currently ranked third in Victoria for the 1998 birth year, Mount has some notable results to her name, and has her sights set on bigger achievements.
“I would love to win an under 14s gold [level] tournament, ” said Mount.
“I have been improving a lot lately. I’ve won a few tournaments … hopefully I’ll have a good chance.”
She won the 2012 Tennis World Queen’s Birthday OJT 16s singles event in June, an impressive effort considering she was only 13 at the time.
She also reached the round of 16 at the 2012 Team Tennis Summer AMT Series #1 and made the final of the women’s doubles at the 2012 Australian Tennis Magazine AMT White in May.
These results have helped propel her national singles ranking to a career-high 341.
Mount trains six days a week and is part of Tennis Victoria’s Future Stars Program run by Emily Rea.
“Jessie has a fantastic work ethic and application to her tennis, ” said Rea, Tennis Victoria’s Player Development Coordinator.
“She is a talented athlete who covers the court exceptionally well and is starting to develop a more aggressive game style, which is helping her challenge the stronger, more experienced players.”
Mount comes from an impressive sporting background; her father Stephen played four seasons for Richmond in the Victorian Football League.
“He knows a lot about the muscles in your body and the mental side of tennis, ” said Mount.
“He really helps me with my preparation and dealing with nerves.”
