Longest singles tennis match: Sam Angel and Katie Martens set world record (Video)
MISSOULA, Mont., USA - Sam Angel and Katie Martens played tennis for 60 hours, 59 minutes and 58 seconds at Missoula's Peak Wellness Center - setting the new world record for the Longest singles tennis match.

The previous Guinness world record for the longest marathon playing tennis, singles, was 55 hr 55 min and 55 sec by Christian Masurenko and Dennis Heitmann (both Germany) at the TSG Herford Club, Herford, Germany.
Guinness World Records also recognized The longest marathon playing doubles tennis world record : 56 hr 37 min 13 sec, set by Gavin White, Jeganathan Ramasamy, Simon Burk, and David Sears (all Australia) at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre in Sydney, Australia.
The World's Longest Singles Tennis Match raised more than $7, 000 in pledges for the Watson Children's Shelter.
KECI-TV reports the high school seniors were allowed to take a five-minute break for every hour of play.
Watson Children's Shelter Executive Director Fran Albrecht said that when Katie and Sam first came to her with the idea she was thankful and never imagined they'd be able to raise that much.
"We would have been thrilled with any amount they would have been able to raise, but truly the amount that they are reaching is significant for our program and what it will do for our children, " Albrecht told KPAX News.
She added that the money raised by the event will be used to finance summer activities like tennis.
