Clean tennis shoes baking soda
I have a couple of pairs of favorite tennis shoes that I have had for a couple of years. They are still in pretty good condition, except that they are getting really dirty and dingy looking! I thought there had to be a way to get them clean and newer looking again.
Often you can get your tennis shoes looking clean again just by tossing them in the washing machine with a couple of bath towels. I did these with my black Converse tennis shoes and this was all they needed. No extra cleaning or scrubbing required.
To get the rubber soles looking white and new again, use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on them. You can see from the photo above that the Magic Eraser worked wonders on those rubber soles. The shoe in the back hasn't been cleaned yet, and the one in the front I used the Magic Eraser on.
For tougher stains you can use this Miracle Spot Remover. It worked wonders on my pink and white Adidas tennis shoes. The white sections of these tennis shoes were really gray and dirt stained. I used a laundry brush to scrub some of the spot remover (hydrogen peroxide, Dawn dishwashing soap, and baking soda) all over the tennis shoes. I let them set for about an hour and then washed them in the washing machine and dried them in the dryer. I removed the laces from the shoes and let them soak in a little bowl while the shoes were sitting with the solution on them.
I was very surprised when the shoes came out of the washer. They were truly clean and looked like brand new again. Another great use for the miracle spot remover! Here are the amazing before and after photos.
I was almost ready to go looking for a new pair of tennis shoes before I tried these easy cleaning tips. I am glad I waited. It's even better to have your favorite tennis shoes looking like new again.
