High School Tennis Rankings California
California has a large and diverse base of high school students and, according to EdSource, the state spends an average of $8, 482 a student per year for educational costs.
According to the Center for Education Policy Analysis, California was long a national leader in educational policies and approaches. However, the state is now struggling with a large list of federal and state reporting requirements and many regulations that seem to stifle innovation. Within this context, many communities are working with different approaches and concepts to bring innovation back to the classroom.
Below are 20 schools, many of them nationally recognized, that stand at the head of the class in rankings for California high schools:
1. Lynbrook High School, San Jose, CA
As expressed on its school website, Lynbrook High School seeks to “create a dynamic environment of respect and achievement where ALL can learn deeply, apply their knowledge and contribute purposefully.” In fulfilling this Vision, the school has earned a high ranking by many separate sources.
U.S. News classifies Lynbrook as a Gold Medal School, ranked 18 in the state of California and number 109 nationally. It also places Lynbrook at number 7 as a STEM school in California. Additionally, SchoolDigger ranks the school 37 out of 1, 785 high schools in the state. FindTheBest gives the school a Smart Rating of 95, and Great Schools awards Lynbrook its highest score, 10 of 10.
The school’s demographics reflect a diverse student body, although 77 percent is Asian.
Lynbrook offers a broader selection of activities and athletics than many of the higher ranked high schools. According to its school website, there are 16 separate sports for boys and girls, ranging from football to tennis. It also has several spirit and dance groups associated with its sports programs. In total, there are 44 competition teams, 70 clubs run by students, and an award-winning peer mentoring program.
The academic offerings are also varied for a school focused on excellence, with classes covering:
- World Languages
- Industrial Technology
Lynbrook is only one of two high schools to be recognized as an Intel School of Distinction, receiving the award in 2011.
